Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison’s mother ship, Bacchanalia, brought industrial dining spaces to new heights. The expectations several years ago were high when they opened the Floataway doors. This back-end Zonolite warehouse resident still soars. The chefs remain dedicated to local cheese, produce, sea and game as well as a grilling and roasting tradition. Even during tomato shortages and hurricane harvests amuck, Floataway finds alternative produce near our native Atlanta.

Menu *****
Americanized-French Bistro fare with local cheese selections such as buffalo mozzarella pizza, gorgonzola-dripping burgers keep gourmands coming back for more. The southerner in me longs for the Piccolo Fritto, a mixture of fried green tomatoes, lemon and Georgia white shrimp. This menu can please every diner from the picky to refined.

Food Quality *****
As important as the thoughtful menu choices is the impeccable selection of native greens, cheeses, seafood and meats. Eating at Floataway is a lesson in fresh and selective ingredients indigenous to nearby fields.

Food Presentation ****
The dining atmosphere outweighs your eating treasures; although this is the only area for focus I recall.

Atmosphere *****
Here we go, this is an A+. Think modern twist on Americanized bistro. Upon entering you are struck by the ethereal sea foam greens, soft lighting framed by long, white drapes dividing the tables into private dining areas. The bar space is built in sync with the flow of people in mind and is decorated with green glass bottles and vases reaching the ceiling.

Cleanliness *****
This is hardly worth a column since the space is impeccable.

Service *****
The waiters and bartenders are prompt and knowledgeable. Our waiter went into great detail recounting ingredients, recommendations and gave us a wine pick in which we enjoyed immensely. The bartender keeps an eye on presentation: think margaritas with homemade mix with round lime slices with swizzle sticks stuck in the middle. I realize he’s a bartending purist when my friends order kir-royales and he delivers them sans orange slices.

Menu Recommendations:
Piccolo Fritto
Red and gold local beets served with Roquefort cheese and greens
Tuscan olive sample in extra virgin olive oil
Gorgonzola Burger
Any pizza
Any grilled seafood or meat
Roasted organic chicken with bread salad and spicy greens
Profiteroles
